Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
reliable pastry brush?
hi there all.. i wonder if anyone can help.. i have purchased about 7 different brands of pastry brushes, but each one seems to shed the brushes onto the cakes etc when baking.. does anyone have a great option for me to try as i am tired of trying to pick out little brush bits from my smooth ganache 🙂
Thank you in advance 🙂

I use the rubber ones, you just need to be a bit careful over the heat of your jam.

I use silicone
Hi jaymelee13
I use silicone as well but find they don’t absorb as much liquid as bristle and unfortunately leave tramlines when hot brushing ganache. I keep natural bristle ones for the ganache and try and change them frequently.
Thank you so much for your feedback all, I’m glad I’m not the only one who has experienced this.. I will definitely try the silicone style brushes now too .. I’m so new to the cake making industry, so am very grateful of all that I’m learning from you wonderful people.. Thanks again
the red ones from asda are really good and dont shed
