Retail value for chocolate wrap and teddy cake

Hi

My family seem to want cakes to the retail price of Asda Sainsbury and M & S. I have been asked for a wrap and a teddy -realistically what is a good price regardless of friend or family .

I always spend more than I get back with no pay for my time – I feel upset at this but guilty asking for the real price.

Also which is the best squires for the wrap? I was thinking of the 5 day course but wrap is repeated.

Hi clare

Pricing is always difficult be it for paying clients or for family and friends. I understand about being out of pocket, this happens to me all the time. Unfortunately the more you give the greater is the expectation!
I thought the answer from David here will help guide you

New business – pricing query

David also has a blog about pricing and confidence here
http://www.cakeflix.com/blog/confidence-in-pricing-cakes
At the end of the blog scroll down to solutions which will put into perspective how everything costs out.
I’m sure members who are in business and do costings on a daily basis will be able to give their advice.
I’m not able to give an opinion on the Squire’s wrap courses, again, I’m sure members who have attended will be able advise.

Its not a squires course its a Paul Bradford qualified tutor course with Mrs brown in Scotland – I did the wrap and teddy at cake camp Nottingham.

I miss a lot at classes as I am deaf.

Thanks Clare – squires is to far I live in Northumberland (Scotland’s much closer)
