Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Ski slope Wedding cake.
Has anybody ever made a ski slope wedding cake? I’m wondering what is best icing to use to cover it? I’m toying with the idea of maybe covering it in fondant first and then using a royal icing to make the humps, slides, jumps etc. Its going to be 4 tiers tall with the bottom two chocolate biscuit and the top 2 dummies. I really would appreciate any hints or advice that you can give me as I’m getting nervous as I go on. Maybe I’m overthinking it. Many thanks.

Hello pduffy
The humps can be made on the surface of the cake with little mounds of cake or scraps of icing. Shape it as you want and then ice over the top. If you want to make additional slush snow that can be done with either royal icing/ lumps of sugarpaste or just making ruts in the paste with a skewer and then glittering it. It depends how much loose snow you would like around. There are loads of ideas online, take a peek here:

You could even take some inspiration for carving and shaping from Paul’s mountain scene cake here:

Google also ski slope wedding cakes to see more less novelty style cakes.
Hope this helps.
Thanks madeiteithlove for getting back to me so promptly. I will have a look at all your suggestions and then come up with something that works best for me.
Many thanks.
