Pauls chocolate cake is by far the best chocolate cake ive ever made and eaten. Everybody loves it. Is there a recipe for a vanilla sponge that uses oil and buttermilk to get the same texture as the chocolate cake but without the chocolate? Thanks

It would be quite difficult to get the same texture without the chocolate because, that ingredient has it’s own function in producing the cake texture. However, it’s not difficult to remove a little of the butter to replace it with some oil.
There are several good recipes online for oil and butter based cakes. Here is one which has excellent reviews:
