Stripes on a cake

Hi I’m struggling with placing horizontal stripes on a cake. I have tried placing the stripes on acetate then wrapping them round but when placed on the cake the move and become squint. Is there any tips

Hi Debbie

Try adding a little tylose to the fondant from which you are cutting the stripes. Let the stripes rest a while. The tylose will help to make handling them better and prevent movement as they are placed against the cake. I lay all the stripes out on baking parchment cut to the correct size of the cake. The stripes and paper are wrapped around the cake in the same way as you use the acetate method.
