Stripes

I am making a round cake and want to do vertical fondant stripes of different colours all around the cake. These will go over the top of the cake the next tier.
As it is a round cake the stripes get narrower at the top and over the top. Is there an easy way to put these stripes on as trying to cut them to size at the top is a bit hit and miss.
Hope I’ve explained this ok and really hope someone can point me in the right direction x

Hi Jb

Also the Exploding Santa cake shows how to taper stripes.

That’s great thank you . I was looking at the wrong stripy cakes where the stripes only went to the top edge. Would I add Tylose to the sugarpaste for the stripes? I’m also assuming that as its just round that I don’t cut the bottom of the stripe just from the top edge to the centre.

I agree – I’ve watched Paul’s Exploding Santa Cake, he goes into detail about how to do it, where to cut etc. Very useful.
