Sugar fowers breaking from wire

Can you please help, i made some peony petals and wired them with 24 gauge wire that was dipped in glue and even with eggwhite , left tem to dry ,3 days , they seeme ok to be wired and then as iam trying to wire them they are just tearing out of the wire and even the wire is just pulling away through where i had put the wire. Have tried this twice. The second time i let the petals dry more and tapped them to feel that hardened sound. Idid not use cell board , but rolled the petals to the recomended 1 to 2 milimeters thickeness, can’t see where iam going wrong and am very frustrated. I have seen pauls fantasy bling flower tutorial as a guide and he doesn’t seem to have any trouble wiring them. Ihave used fondastic brand of flower paste. Product of canada Is it the flower paste?

Hi
Only things i can think of is are you using tok much glue and make sure the wire is in far enough and bend the end of the wire with a small hook rather just straight as tjis will give more grip into the paste.
Good luck as I know how annoying it can be

Try rolling the base of petal slightly thicker so the wire sits snuggly and gently pinch the point of entry shut.

Thanks, but i have used both of the suggestions mentioned above. I have not hooked the wire as the petals are too thin for that, that would suit if you were making gumpaste cone. I have done what paul has shown, i also have looked at other online flower tutorials, all seem to be wiring with ease, checkout Renee Conner cake design, she has shown a peony, you will see what i am trying do.What am i doing wrong? I have tried putting the wire further, this makes it tear when handeling the petal for veining or putting it to dry.

Thank you cadburymoon, and MIWL

Hi qvkake

It is possible that it could be the paste but since I’m not familar with that brand I can’t really comment on it’s performance. I find Squire’s Kitchen petal paste the best for flowers. It is very fine and dries really quickly. Perhaps change the brand? Feel your frustration. x
