I’m looking for a good carnation tutorial that doesn’t require the specific cutters.

There are many carnation tutorials online or in youtube. If you search in youtube for gumpaste carnations you’ll see one from Elaine McGregor (foodcourt) it really is lovely. She uses a cutter but all you need is any round cutter, a ball tool for frilling and a sharp knife to making the petals feathery.
