Three fruit cakes cooked at same time
I am going to bake 3 fruit cakes, one 6 inch square, one 8 inch and the other 10 inch. I am using Mrs Jones recipe. Can you put all 3 in the oven at the same time to cook and if so, which shelves do I put each size cake on?

I haven’t tried this, but I imagine unless you have a commercial mixer, it will be difficult to mix a batch of fruit cake batter this size. I would personally bake them separately, or maybe the 6″ and 8″ together, putting the 6″ below the 8″.

Apart from the amount of mixture involved will you have sufficient space in between the two larger tins to allow for heat circulation? The most important thing to take into considerstion is the big difference in baking times between 6″,8″ and 10″ cakes. The 6″ cake will be fully baked before the 10″. I would bake the 6 and 8 together and the 10 on it’s own.
Keep the position of the shelf, baking temperature and time as recommended by Mrs Jones. The 6″ will be probably be done before the 8 but it will be safe to open the oven door.
