Use under fondant

Hi there I was wondering that is mrs Jones vanilla sponge cake ok to use with fondant? I need to make a 10 inch and an 8 inch fondant covered cake and I rather like mrs Jones recipe. Wil the cake be good under fondant and for stacking and also will it stay moist .. Thank you
