Using tappits
Hi
Just wondering if anybody has any tips on using tappits. I watched Paul’s video but I had awful trouble getting them out and actually broke one of them. I used flourist paste and tried icing sugar and corn flour but when some of them eventually came out the letters were dusty, the flourist paste I was using was blue so didn’t look very good. Any tips would be great. Thanks

Hi nigel-mellon
There’s an answer here which will direct you to a video tutorial http://www.cakeflix.com/questions/cutters
and if you type in the search box ‘tappits’ you’ll see several other answers which may be of help. I roll out the flower paste really thin, let it dry for a few seconds, cut and flick!. Video is very good, take a look at it.
Hi,
i use some trex.

Roll the paste out thinly, leave it to air dry for about 5-10 mins then use the tappit. I find giving it a good whack over something like a rolling pin forces the paste out quickly and reduces any stretching/distortion.
I always let the paste dry a bit first.I have a clothes steamer which gets rid of the dust.you could wait till they firm up a bit and put a pin in the back and steam over a pan of water it takes seconds
Thanks for all your answers, i will definitely try using steam to get the icing sugar off. As for using trex do you put a little in the tappits or just the paste?
Hi, I only put a little trex on, but also leave the flower paste to dry a bit as well. You could also try using vodka, or gin to get the icing sugar off.

Hi
Just tried using the tappits again and they turned out great. I wasn’t rolling the paste out thin enough and I used steam to get rid of any powder left behind. Thanks for all your help.
