vw beetle cake

This may be a silly question, but when Paul does the beetle cake he only uses one cake. I dont have a tin that deep. Mine is about 4cm – can I stack two cakes or will this cause me problems when I start to carve?

Hi Avie89

You might be able to if you filled and stacked your cake and then carve it from frozen. You’d have to keep pop it back and forth to the freezer while working on it. As you can in the tutorial Paul carves a solid cake so the shape is achieved without layers slipping and sliding. I haven’t done this cake, I’m sure members who have will be able to give more information. Sorry can’t help more.

If you do try it in layers Avie, it would be good to know how it turns out. x
