Hi there….I am having my first wedding consultation tomorrow evening….and trying to be positive!……If I get the order and the Bride wants me to Tavel to the venue and set up, how much do you charge for this?……and for mileage?…….she may do it herself as only looking for 2 tiers and vintage cupcakes, but trying to get my pricing head on ahead of time.

Any wedding cake info, hints or tips very much appreciated

Hi there I normally base on mileage that you can charge when doing your accounts. Which at present on HMRC is 0.45p per mile round trip – that covers the mileage. Then work out your hourly rate if you have to set it up. For example is it just a case of take out the box and place on a cake stand or do you need to stack tiers and add decorations. Then think about how long it would take you to do this. Sometimes if a customer has paid over a certain amount for a cake I just charge for the delivery if it’s just a case of take out the box and put on a stand. You have to remember it could take you an hour to set up so if you know your hourly rate charge for the time it will take. Hope this helps a bit
