Westie Cake

Hello There, I am a member on this site and find it really useful, however, I have now made the Westie Cake twice from the tutorial and it looked fantastic both times but head fell off almost straight away. I now have to remake one for tomorrow and am dreading it, would a carved styrofoam head be a better idea to use as it is much lighter than cake. I was also thinking about rice krispie treats but think they may be too heavy. Help!!!! Thanks.

Hi, I have not made this cake, but carving styrofoam I think would be quite difficult.
I make cake dummies with rice krispies and they don’t seem to heavy, so I think this would work well.
If you are going to mould the head from rice krispies, cover your hand in marg to stop the mixture from sticking to you, you may need to keep doing this until you are happy with your head and also really squeeze the rk to get them to stick together. Good Luck. I am sure other cakers will have other suggestions.
