I have tried lots of Choc cake recipes and was wondering which other members liked

Hi Mish my favourite chocolate recipe is very similar to Paul’s and is the Maisie Fantasie recipe you can google the recipe or the recipe is in any of her books. I also love the vanilla sponge recipe. Hope this helps.

I have several ‘favouite’ chocolate cake recipes. There’s Jane Hornby’s chocolate wedding cake Paul’s moist chocolate cake and the mud cake in the site’s recent blog. However, Mary Berry has a very good chocolate cake, as does Angela Nielson. There are also many lovely flourless chocolate cake recipes and the Austrian chocolate bundts which are soaked in hot sweet coffee and brandy. I choose recipes according to density and keeping properties and for the occasion they will be serving. Most ‘real’ chocolate cake recipes are similar with very small variations in ingredients so they pretty much taste alike. I also use a chocolate beetroot recipe, it isn’t everyone’s cuppa tea but I like it. It’s good to have several recipes to ring the changes and it’s even better to have interesting fillings, flavours and textures to enchance the chocolate flavour.

I agree – Mary Berry’s one is great, as is Pauls, and if you want a pre-mix, the Wrights Chocolate Cake mix is quite good too, available in most supermarkets, or in bulk direct from wrights.
