Hi Lobit

Wood bought in timber yards is not food safe as it is treated with chemicals so would require covering. If you have a look at the friendly dragon tutorial and also Hamish the highland cow, Paul shows how he covers the timber boards. You can also buy professional cake board grade foil from your cake decorating store or online. The foil comes in a roll. It can be bought to the size of board which needs covering or by the roll. Hope this information is of help.
