Hi Liz

Back in the day we would use steam from a kettle to set the petal dust colours on sugarpaste flowers. A quick steam would ensure that the colour remained fast and deepend to appear more life like.
Now we have cake steamers which have a variety of uses such as putting a sheen/gloss on iced cakes, removing powder sugar or cornflour marks and fingerprints. I should think they are also used for curling wafer paper. I still use a kettle, some people use a portable clothes steamer. I must admit it’s tempting to have a steamer for making the all over steaming much easier. If you google cake steamer you’ll see several videos on how to use one.

Hope this helps. x

You’re welcome Liz. I see Cake Stuff has it on at a really good price, better than it was at the cake international! It’s my birthday next week so I may hint for one from my son, although I don’t really need it. If you do lots of cakes it’s a good time to grab one now. xx
