Lost saftey pin

Hi guys!
Ok I’m dumb lol so I have lost a safety pin.
Covered my cake with fondant. All smoothed out but had a air bubble on the top.
Which I used a safety pin (sterilized) to pop.
Now I can’t find it!!!!
Any advise?
Looked through bin on counters etc… run my hands around the cake and can’t feel anything.
Any advise would be great! Not sure if I should bin the cake!
Many thanks Sarah x

Oh poor you. I think everyone has been in that situation. I would have to take the fondant off the cake and check. Obviously it won’t be in the mixture. Then, if the sugar paste has gone a little hard, you could try popping it back in the microwave for a few seconds, re kneading and reapply. If its beyond that, then use new sugar paste. Good luck

Hi Jacqui
Thanks for your reply
I lifted the bottom of the fondant being I only used the safety pin on the top. And the sides were already smoothed down.
Do you think I would have felt a whole safety pin after that?
The cake has ganache under the Fondant!
Liked you said maybe just take it off! ? x

Hi Sarah,
I guess if it was a large safety pin, and your fondant was thin, then you may well feel it. I usually use a scribe tool ( not helpful now- sorry) However what I think is you would never be happy – and I think you know that. Of course if you used ganahce under the fondant – you would probably not be able to re- use it. Unless it hasn’t marked the fondant much, and you could take those bits out. Other wise you need a new batch, and reapply. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet……..and your sleep well tonight.. Sorry, that is what I would do.
