Cake mix quantity

For a Victoria sponge I usually use an 8oz mix for 2 x 8” round sandwich tins. How much mix will I need to make 2 x 8” square sandwich tins. I guessed at 9ozs but the finished cakes do not reach the top of the tins. I looked at the calculator chart but I don’t understand

Hi Barbara

8” square tins need ten and quarter ounces mixture.
This should give you a rise to the top of your tins.

Hi MIWL
thank you. Is that 10 and a quarter ozs? Can you tell me how much that is in grams please?

Thank you
Barbara

That’s fine, we normally use metric weights.
This is 291 grams if you want it precisely or you can round it up to 300 grams for ease of measuring.
