Champagne Coloured Fondant

I have golden wedding cake to do and am looking for a champagne gold coloured fondant icing, does anyone know where I can get this, I have just got some Squires Kitchen Mocca as it looked quite like the colour I was after on the web page but it is still too brown.

Hi iainkean

It depends what you preceive as champagne. In the shimmering wedding cake tutorial by Faye Cahill she makes up a custom colour which she calls champagne. The tutorial can be seen here:

Shimmering Lace Wedding

Most people consider champagne as a golden or ivory colour as in Paul’s golden damask rose cake tutorial here:

Golden Damask Rose Wedding

The colours are listed under the ingredients tab under the tutorial.
This is the closest I have found selling as champagne:

Sugarflair make a champagne tint which could be used with pearl ivory lustre to dust an ivory coloured iced cake.
To get a better idea of the colour you have in mind have a look at some google images. It may be that you will just need ivory cream sugarpaste and a petal dust or shimmer to finish off.

Hello, thanks for the reply, here is link that I hope works to the colour of cake I have been asked to do, it is the single tier on the left with the large bow & jewel on it.

That’s a very lovely design and the colour is very much like the one in the link I set for you in my answer above. I think that is almost like a very light coffee or mocha. You can achieve this colour with a combination of white and chocolate and possibly a tiny touch of of autumn leaf but you will need to experiment with the ratios. If you still have the Squires fondant try combining a very small amount of white with it to lighten the colour. It would be very difficult for me to say how much you would need, the only way to see the result is for you to try it out.
Another suggestion would be to send the link to Squires and ask them what colour to combine with their mocha to achieve the lighter shade.
