Fondant drips

Can fondant be combined with something to make it a “drip” consistency for a drip cake? The fondant color I had to mix would be nearly impossible to duplicate in royal icing. Thanks!

Hi Claudia

Sure you can. If you have some spare fondant left over soak it in a very small amount of water to soften it. Keep adding trickles of water to make it into a more liquid consistency. This is best done a few drops at a time paddling with a palette knife on the counter top. Basically you’re making royal icing from the fondant. Scoop up the liquidish fondant, place it in a piping bag and make the drips as required. This will take overnight to dry, give it plenty of time as air temperature and humidity will affect how quickly it will dry. Give it a trial go before you let yourself loose on the real deal. 🙂

Fabulous! Thank you!

Good luck with it! Give it time to dry , it will take longer than normal royal icing as some fondant contains glycerin which prevents total hardening.
