Hi everyone. Does anyone know how much weight a 11″ glass pedestal cake stand hold? I am making a 3 tier cake, which consists of a 12″ fruit cake on a 14″ board then a 9″ coffee cake then a 7″ carrot cake and all going to be 4″ deep. The cake is going out this weekend so any answers would be greatly received. Thanks Anna

You might find this helpful http://sarahsstands.com/guide/ Please note the comment on the size of the bottom tier and the cake board. You mention your bottom tier will be on a 14″ board which will be placed on an 11″ stand, this will cause instability according to the above link.

Hi MWL. thank you so much for the link about the cake stand it was really helpful.I decided to weigh the decorated fruit cake and add up the ingredients for the other two tiers including the ganache and icing and have placed some books on the cake stand overnight to make sure its sturdy enough to hold the weight complete wedding cake once decorated, i have everything crossed that it will be sturdy enough. Thanks Again.

Hi MIWL putting the books on the pedestal cake stand for a couple of nights before i set up the wedding cake really gave me peace of mind, the weight of the books was 46lb and the total weight if the cake was 42lbs. The couple were delighted with their cake, phew glad that went ok, as sometimes it’s a worry about how much weight these cake stands can take, thank you again
