Lightening Mcqueen cake

I have a project of doing the above cake. As its hard to find readily colored fondant in UAE. Can i us the airbrush technique to color the cake in red color? Does the airbrush color bleed in hot n humid climate or when freezed?. The current temperature in this country is 42-45 deg C.

Sorry to disagree with you Annie but liquid red colouring will make the paste very soft and sticky.  You have to use so much to get the colour you desire.  Paste colouring would be better but I wouldn’t recommend this either.  Same problem.

Florals I have never used an airbrush so can’t advise BUT why not try to colour/freeze a small peice of fondant as an experiment?

Hi Florals,

I would suggest you to use liquid colouring and add it to your white fondant. May be it can help you.

Hi Florals, I would not recommend you colouring the fondant red, even with gel paste.  I have tried this and it needed so much gel added to get the colour I wanted that it changed the consistency too much.  Sugar flair do an extra strength red food colouring called Red Extra, although I haven’t heard of any reviews on it yet.  I do recommend using the airbrush for deep colours as it works really well.  I found that it can sometimes take overnight for it to dry though and I live in Scotland – definately no humidity here!!  But it is regularly used in USA so…?  But as Jayess says do a trial and see.

Thanks to all your suggestions. I hav never used liquid colors to color fondant. Nice to know that Annie is from UAE.  I have tried coloring with gel paste, but as Susan say u dont acquire the dark redcolor. So i hav decided to color fondant with gel paste and then airbrushing with red color to get the desired color. I hope this will work well. I once again appreciate all your valuable suggestions. thanks
