Maisy

Hi. I’m going to be making the vw beetle cake this week but want to have the top of the car on it, but still follow the rest of Paul’s tutorial. So I’m trying to work out how I can do this. Should I make my measurements a wee bit smaller than Paul’s so that “scooby snack” piece could be a bit bigger for the top part of the car but still making a 10 inch cake. Hope I’m explaining myself clearly here, lol. Thanks. X

Hi Maisy, Paul suggests using the Range Rover tutorial to see how he makes the car roof, but would also print off an image of the VW Beetle with a roof to help as a guide while carving. The 10″ cake should still be enough, but maybe just cut a little smaller than he suggests to be on the safe side or have some extra cake on stand-by…..

Hi maisy

To make the car with it’s top on all you need to do is download a picture the same as Paul has done and carve the shape as a whole. Take a peek here for lots of ideas, templates and tutorials:

Good luck with your cake!

Hi. Thank you for your replies and sorry I’ve only got back. I watched both videos of Paul’s and I think I got it but have to admit, I don’t like shaped cakes lol.
