Try googling ‘heston blumenthal chocolate soil’.  I saw his programme the other day and he put chocolate soil on tiramisu flowerpots. http://www.channel4.com/4food/recipes/chefs/heston-blumenthal/tiramisu-recipe

I have recently made a cake for a gardener.  I made a veg patch using oreo biscuits crushed.  I kept the cream in the middle unlike some advise as it made it a more realistic texture and not just powder.  I used royal icing on the fondant to adhere it just so it didn’t go everywhere (which i learnt from a mistake of trying to place it just on the cake 🙂 ).  Hope this helps.
