Stacking naked cake

Hi everyone

This will be my first naked cake and not sure but am I right in thinking will still need to dowel and use thin boards? I have 12 layers to do.

Was worried about cake drying out but see comments from MIWL about syrup. My question is would that work with chocolate? I have choc, plain and lemon levels.

Thank you

Hi Aysh

All the cakes will have to be carded and dowelled so just follow the normal proceedure for stacking. Refer to Paul’s tutorials if you need a refresher:

The syrup will also work on chocolate cake if you feel it needs moistening. It depends really which recipe you are using. Paul’s moist chocolate cake doesn’t need extra moistening as it gets more moist with keeping.
