10 inch vanilla sponge cake

Can you use one deep tine for this or does it have to be two? Don’t fancy the cost of another two tins 🙁

Hi Wardiep

You can make a 10″ cake in one deep tin. If you are baking Mrs Jones’ vanilla cake, the ingredients will have to be halved as her batter is for two deep 10″ cakes. When you pour your mixture into the tin make a large dip in the middle, this will help your cake rise without too much doming. Keep the lining paper about 2″ above the rim of the tin, this will prevent the top and sides of your cake from burning I bake 10″ round cakes on 140c fan assisted oven for 2 hours 10 minutes. You’ll have to judge your own oven for temperature. Hope this helps.
