12″ Fruitcake

Please help. I have made Mrs Jones’s fruit cake which is on the tutorials twice now and it came out beautifully on both occasions. I now want to make a 12″ round for my birthday and I don’t know what measurements to use for the ingredients and how long to bake it for. Please can anyone help i am a beginner at cake baking and decorating but I really do enjoy it. Thank you in advance.

Hi Nikke

If you go to this blog http://www.cakeflix.com/blog/how-to-work-out-what-size-cake-tin-to-use you will see how to convert your recipe to fit a different tin size. You can either use the ready reckoner or use the link which takes to to the Cake Baker site and their CakeOMetre. As you are a beginner I’d recommend you use cakeometre because it works it out for you, although the chart is just as easy to follow but there is a small amount of maths involved. Happy baking and Happy New Year. x

If you have a smart phone you can download a free app called “cake pan converter”. I use it all the time it’s simple and works
