Bean cans

Hi all
I read somewhere baked bean cans can be used for cooking cakes. Does anyone know if clean empty beer cans can be used as was wondering about them to get a good shape for a beer can cake

Hi scarlet

Yes you can use beer cans, fill them about three quarters full and just make sure there are no sharp edges when you cut the top off. I would grease and line the cans as usual and wrap the outside in wet brown paper to prevent the sides of the cake from burning. I’ve baked cakes in bean cans, biscuit tins and tin foil, needs must when the devil drives!! x

Hi MIWL
I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to post the results. Anyway it was a complete success and I got some lovely beer can shaped cakes. The only problem I had was I overfilled them and it went everywhere but as it was on the outside it didn’t matter. Had a very happy partner too as he had to drink the beer for me ha ha. Anyway a definite success and I will be using this method from now on x
