Betty Boop cake
Hi, i’m fairly new to cake decorating and wondered if you could do a video tutorial for a Betty Boop cake.. my best friend is nagging me to make her one for her birthday next month but have no idea how to make a sugarpaste Betty Boop….thanks

I can’t help you with how to carve out a BB cake but have a look
at www.cakedecorating.org.uk/Betty.Boop/htl. It has some lovely images
of BB and how you could decorate a simple round cake and really jazz it up
with the character. I’ve never seen a carved BB cake so you may have to resort
to a topper. There are lots of tutorials on how to make and decorate a gumpaste Betty
just google it in. Hope this is of some help.

However, there are many tutorials, some of which are on youtube, which will help you with some ideas on how to make a gum paste Betty. Don’t panick, just google in ‘how to make a betty boop cake’ and a whole lot images and tutorials will come up. xx
Have a look also at the bride and groom in the Rose wedding cake tutorial, you’ll find it in the weddings category.
You could adapt the bride into Betty Boop by exaggerating her figure & making it more curvy. It will give you a good idea how to create the body, shoulders, arms and head. Instead of the white wedding gown, you could use a different colour to make an evening gown. Use internet images of BB to create her face and hair and any other special feature of the character. If you make your model in a long gown you won’t have to worry about making legs, just ankles and shoes could be added at the bottom of the dress. The Merida model tutorial will help you to create BB big eyes. Just a few more ideas to play with, hope they help. x
