Cake Boxes Question

Hi, I have a couple of questions about cake boxes. 1. My cake boxes all come flat & I’m not sure when putting them together should the small tabs go on the outside of the box or the inside?
2. How do you cover the cake when it is to tall to fit with the lid on? I tried to use clin film but it would not stick & came off when the wind blow.

Thank you,
Dan.

Hi chefdan

Small tabs go on the outside of the box. You can buy box extenders, have a look in the on site shop or here http://www.cake-stuff.com/boards-boxes-c2/cake-boxes-c54/box-extensions-c145. I always make my own by cutting wide strips from old cake boxes and sticking them on the inside of the box walls to create height. You can use sellotape or strong glue which must hold fast. Hope this helps.

I agree with madeitwithlove you need extenders either made or bought to give you a little height before the lid goes on.
If you have something for each corner or side just use some greaseproof paper around the top/side of the box to seal it…..there are tall boxes available but they can be expensive…..

I agree with both of you, but if you wanted to fill in the sides inbetween the extenders then you could use acetate, which is quite inexpensive, and see through so you can keep an eye on your design!
