Hi Lesleyn

If you put in the search box ‘extra long knife’ there are answers, and suggestions where to purchase, which might be of help to you. The ones I use have quite a fine serration, some bread knives have wide ‘teeth’ which are not very good for carving cakes, I find they make a mess. Once you start shopping round for one you’ll be able to distinguish the difference between the blades. I have different length knives, a small serrated knife is good for carving in nooks and crannies and for finer work, a medium size one for carving and shaping and an extra long one for splitting cakes 10″ an over.
Hope this helps.
