i have been reading on line that a lot of cake decorators use Chalk for colouring gum paste flowers as it is cheaper .
i was wondering what you thoughts are on this.

Chalk itself isn’t a problem however the colourants may not be food safe. Check the packaging for instructions like food safe or non toxic. Non toxic colours are not considered edible but they can be used on items of decorations which can be removed from the cake and are not meant for consumption. Usually anything which children can use would be non toxic. Hope this helps.
