Choc cake and glycerine

I have had a few mixed reviews of my chocolate cake recently….in that it becomes a bit dry and crumbly, and does not have the shelf life of my Vic sponge……can I add glycerine to the chocolate mixture? Don’t want to use Paul’s moist recipe for smaller birthday / kids cakes,as too expensive.
