coral flowers

hey guys, hope you can help me. Ive had an order for a lovely mint colour wedding cake. Bride has also requested coral coloured peony roses. Ive managed to get mint colour that Im quite happy with but the coral has deluded me a bit. Tried sugarflair and some others and realise that it may just be a question of the quantity for the depth and also may come under another colour ie orange or peach or something. Can anyone tell me what they have used for coral?

Many thanks

Hi Lou

As you know there are so many varients of coral so it will depend on the shade you want. Take a peek at some of the suggestions in the following links:
http://www.sweetsugarbelle.com/2014/05/how-to-make-coral-royal-icing/

If you google ‘how to make the colour coral’ you’ll see lots of other suggestions.
Beau Products make coral gumpaste which might be suitable for your requirements. See it here:
http://www.thecakedecoratingcompany.co.uk/coral-colour-flower-paste-100g-by-beau-products
Sunflower Sugarart make coral dusting powder which can also be seen at the cake decorating company.
The are many more brands out there, some such as Rainbow dust coral is non toxic and not edible so must only be used on decorations which will be removed from the cake.

Personally I just keep mixing small amounts and jot down how much of each until I get the right colour. I’m partial to pinky and very light orangy apricoty corals or something like onion skin. Use a colour wheel, it will make it easier for you to know which colours to mix together.

Hope this helps, happy mixing and experimenting! xx
