Culpitt Sugarpaste

I am planning a wedding cake that will be wrapped top to bottom over 5 tiers and really need a good sugar paste that won’t crack/craze. It looks like Satin Ice is probably the best albeit expensive. I haven’t tried this myself so can’t say but I’m wondering if anyone has tried the Culpitt sugar paste that seems to be getting good reviews, or whether the Regal Ice would be good enough. Any advice?

PS – also wondering about Sattina as I’ve read some good reviews on this too.

Thanks

I use Sattina. Im reasonably new to decorating and find this is the only one ive tried (apart from Satin Ice) that hasn’t cracked.
Its quite soft so is also much easier to knead and roll out.
I love it

I found Satin Ice cracked a lot when I used it on a 4 tier wedding cake. I have also found Renshaw to be quite prone to ‘elephant skin’.

I have switched to Culpitt and I love it!! If you buy in the big tubs it doesn’t work out much more expensive that Renshaw.

More endorsements for sattina here http://www.cakeflix.com/questions/sattina although I can’t live without my Satin Ice. I know it doesn’t suit everyone but I like it because it can be rolled out so much thinner, no elephant skin and it tastes gorgeous.

Thanks for your input guys, this is what’s confused me as there are so many differing preferences and I guess I’m just going to have to give one of them a try. I’ve generally used Covapaste or Bako as I can get hold of these quickly from my local shop. These are fine for most things, but have found they can crack if you’re not quick enough.

Many thanks x
