Glass effect

Hi, have been trying to make some glass or ice effect stars, I tried melted glacier mints but although that is fine for thinner designs, once you get to around 2cm it seems to take on a yellowish tinge.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi CasseyGreen

You could try making them from gelatine. If you search in youtube ‘A piece of cake Utah’ gelatine the demonstrater shows how to make all sorts of decorations using the technique. Another way would be with isomalt however I have no experience of this product.

Thanks for your reply.
I don’t think that gelatine will be suitable for what I have in mind, but thank you for the idea, & will certainly have a look at what they do, always interested in new ideas!
Had considered isomalt but like you I have never used it so am a bit wary.
Maybe give plain sugar a try – will report back on the results.
