Hi Lynn

I’ve used SK florist paste which is really good but not the sugar paste. I’m sure SK is very good, they produce many different products which I do use and find excellent. This link http://www.cake-stuff.com/sugarpaste-icing-c-34.html discusses different sugar pastes although they don’t include SK. My preference is Satin Ice for special cakes and Renshaws Regal ice for regular cakes. I’ve also used supermarket brands but find them to be far too sugary and not really that great in taste so limit those for making gum paste. If you fancy having a go at making your own put in the search box ‘how to make sugar paste from scratch’. Most sugar pastes contain the same ingredients and probably only differ in the manufacturing process. You’ll get answers from other members who have used SK. Hope some of this info helps.

Hi lynn

I’ve not used the squire sugarpaste either, only the flower paste, i would also recommend Satin Ice. Cake Stuff (www.cake-stuff.com) sell it, its not widely available in shops yet as its imported from the states. It is more expensive than renshaws because of the import cost, but the taste is very good. I personally prefer the taste of it to renshaws as it is less sweet and tastes a bit like marshmallow.

It is also very good for covering cakes as it doesnt seem to ever crack (ideal for a wedding cake).

As MadewithLove said Cake Stuff do a little comparison for you and the last time i looked, they were still selling sample packs, where you get a small piece of several sugarpastes so that you can compare them yourself. It was only £2, so you dont have to buy a whole pack and find you dont like it 🙂 From memory it had the renshaws covapaste and satinice as well as a couple of others.

Hope that helps 🙂
