How to Convert the size of the Chocolate Cake

Hello, I am new to the site and fairly new to baking so please forgive me if this question sounds silly. I wanted to have a go at making the chocolate cake but only have one 8″ tin at the moment and I’m really not sure how to adjust the ingredients to make an 8″ version of the cake. I had a look at the chart but I’m still not confident. I need to take the ingredients from the tutorial which is for a 10″ and 6″ cake and adjust it down so that I only make one 8″ cake. Can anyone help me understand how to do this? I’m sorry if I sound really thick. I’ve got to start somewhere!! 🙂 xx

Hi bobbieloo

If you go back to the recipe you’ll see that the two cakes ingredients fit into 10″ square tin. If you go back to the chart you’ll see that you also have the option of using the cakeometre. The cakeometre will allow you to add all the ingreidents for the existing recipe and convert it to the 8″ which you want. Remember that if you are converting to a square tin enter the shape as well as the ingredients into the app. Let me know if you are able to use it. x
