Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Is it too late to start baking a Christmas fruit cake ?
Hi
I have been asked about baking a Christmas fruit cake in a loaf tin.
Just plain no decorations.
Is it too late to start this cake?
I know that normally a Christmas Cake is made earlier and it gets feed weekly.
Will Mrs Jones recipe be a good one to make now or is another recipe better bearing in mind I will be making the cake this week?
Thank you in advance
Rachael

Hello Rachael
It’s not too late to make fruit cake in a loaf tin. The cake is small enough to mature, you have time. Give it a feed when you take it out of the oven, let it cool then wrap it up in parchment paper first then foil and pop it in a tin.
Mrs Jones’ recipe will be fine, if you want an alternative, some members have baked Mitch Turner’s recipe which is said to be very moist.

and here for Mitch Turner;s recipe:
