Iso propyl alcohol

Hi,ive been advised to buy iso propyl alcohol from the chemist for cake painting,but after going on goole this seems to be used for all kinds of chemical cleaning. Nt sure wether to buy it now. Any advise please.

Hi Denise – a clear alcohol such as vodka can be used for cake painting. I checked Mich Turner’s book and she uses cocoa butter melted in a saucer over boiling water along with powdered colours. I have not tried this yet but all the best with your painting.

Thank you grace cay,cocoa butter sounds much nicer than what I have been advised,will give it a try.

Hi, I use cool boiled water, and as long as your brush isn’t too wet, it’s fine.
