Hi Sammyj787

The best place to start for advice is the British Sugarcraft Guild. If you become a member they give you the insurance as part of the membership. You could also have a look at the many comparison insurance sites. I don’t know whether you are in business, the Pro Membership http://www.cakeflix.com/how-to-run-a-cake-decorating-business covers exactly all these types of questions and so much, much more. The initial outlay of the Pro course is very small in comparison to what the information contained in it will save. This answer from David Brice will explain better http://www.cakeflix.com/questions/what-is-different-about-normal-versis-pro. Hope this helps.

The British Sugarcraft Guild covers you selling cakes part time with a turnover of up to £7500. The basic cover is very cheap and you can upgrade to all risks and also money cover if you need it. If you don’t fit the criteria you can go direct to the company that provides it for a quote www.adsinsurance.co.uk

Yes, take out the pro membership – as David & Paul say, you will make the money back – I was self employed for years, so I hummed and harred as I “thought I knew it all”. Believe me, I didn’t, and I’m grateful I decided to take out Pro Membership. doodlecake – do you have more info on the British Sugarcraft Guild re prices, contact details, etc to share with us?

I just got mine with Direct Line – home business insurance including 2m public liability and covers all your contents and some cash etc – £53 for the year.

Just got my renewal letter in so:

annual membership £23
Public and products 2 million cover £16 + all risks £69 + money cover £79.60
Public and products 5 million cover £27.50 + all risks £80.50 + money cover £91.10

These are the total prices, already added together. All the details are on their website, just google it. I do go to my local branch meetings, very friendly Ladies and free training!
