Lilly Petals

I am making my first asiatic lily…..they are like stargazer lilies. I am having to do one petal at a time as mine are to big lilies
My problem has been when I am assembling the.flower the petals are breaking near where I am taping them together. They are splitting then the wires are coming through.
Thought they may be too heavy and thick.
Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Many thanks

Hi suzyb53

Have you had a look at the stargazer lily tutorial here http://www.cakeflix.com/?s=stargazer+lily

I was having the same problem with the peony flower because I was rolling out too thin! I managed to keep the base slightly thicker which prevented the wire poking through.

Hi made with love

Have followed tutorial struggled with getting wires in but going to have another go at Paul’s method.
Think mine are heavier and thicker.
Finished flower looks ok but think they may start to droop also cut to weight.

Thanks for the advice .

If the petals are a lot bigger than normal size perhaps having a heavier weight wire might help?? might stop them drooping, it’s just a thought.
