Monogram on wedding cake

I am making a wedding cake (my own!) and want to put our initials on the side of one of the tiers. Trouble is, I know I could never pipe it freehand. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hello Fruitcake

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding and good on you for making your cake! I know what you mean about piping so here’s a couple of suggestions: Make long fondant susasages and shape them in a funky way to make initials, you can intertwine them and leave to dry until hard, paint or dust, and mount onto the cake using
Royal icing as glue (will stick much better). Next, you can download fancy letters from the computer, cover them with parchment paper and use as template to ice over. Option 3, buy diamonte monograms which can be stuck to the cakes. If I get any more bright idea I’ll let you know. Just one more, you can also cut large letters from card, use that as a template to cut your letters out. x

Hi
There is also letter Tappits – (Think they are FMM), these are very good and come in a variety of different styles to match your theme.

Thank you both for your help. I will experiment with your methods Madewithlove, but if all else fails I do have some of the Funky Tappits which I can use!
