Naked cake

Hi, I have been asked to make a naked wedding cake. Has anyone got any tips on how to keep it from drying out without fondant to keep it moist? I will be baking it the day before the wedding, so will be freshly baked, but I will be setting it up first thing on the morning of the wedding, however the reception will not take place until 4pm.

Thanks.

Hi Hazel 54

I answered a similar question here:

Naked/uniced cake – prevent drying

The cakes can also be sprayed with simple syrup before wrapping them in the cling film.
Use a heavy duty cling film, not the stuff we buy in the supermarket. I believe Lakeland keep the heavy duty, if not there are lots of suppliers online. Just google the product for best prices.

Hope this helps.
