pricing deep/double barrel cakes

Hi
How do people price deep/double barrel cakes.

Do I just charge and extra 1/2 a cake?
I know that a layer of cake dummy can be used as in the exploding box cake and I have used a cake drum for a bottom tier to give it some extra height. So I would just cost the extra use of materials.

But what if the customer wanted it all Cake like Faye Cahill’s beautiful cake?

Thank you in advance for you help (again) !

Hi Rachael

A double barrel cake is two cake tiers decorated as one, they take time and skill to decorate. I think it would need to be charged for as a two tier cake. David has a helpful blog as a guide to pricing cakes with confidence, it can be seen here:

If you are a Pro members and would like to discuss with David pricing for tall cakes, he can be contacted here:

I’m sure other members who are in business will also advise you how they price their double barrel cakes. x
