Pricing fruit cake

Hi all, I have never made a fruit cake as I don’t like them but now I have an order for one! It’s a few months away so I have time to test some recipes but I need to give the customer a price just now. Was thinking of pricing it in line with my chocolate cake but can anyone give me some guidance as to how your costs compare? Thanks!

Hi Doodlecake,  I found a website that can help you calculate costs and it keeps up with prices each week so it is fairly accurate.

look for the cakeulater….really works.

Hi Doodlecake

Chocolate and fruit cake are not comparable in price as fruit is much more expensive than chocolate. To make a really moist fruit cake all the fruit should be soaked in a couple tablespoons of brandy (or water if non alcoholic) for about three days to plump it up. A good fruit cake is usually matured for three months to develope a rich flavour. There recipes for quick fruit cakes online if you are short on time, and you will find other answers on the site, just put fruit cake in the search box. The cakeulator will certainly help with pricing.
