problems watching video’s

Does anyone have the same problem when watching some of the video’s. Some times they freeze and sometimes they skip to the next section half way through – very annoying. Is this happening to others or is it something to do with my browser?

Dear All,

Please do not give up. I had this problem, but now use Safari and never had a problem again.

The site is great and so are the tutorials.

Hi,

Thanks for all your feedback and sorry about the trouble you have been having.

Thanks to everyone who has offered help as well.

This certainly sounds frustrating and I’ll do my best to get to the bottom of it. I take it its just the videos that are in play lists that your all having trouble with? An example of a set of videos not in playlists can be found here:

http://www.cakeflix.com/online-cake-decorating-courses/summer-wedding-cake

Also does it make a difference if the videos are in a tab or not? On the latest courses we have stopped using the tabs and intend to go back through all the old videos redo the layout to match. If you could take a look at the videos in this play list

http://www.cakeflix.com/online-cake-decorating-courses/goldfish-cake

and let me know if it makes a difference.

I’ll also contact our video hosting company and see if they can help. Sometimes these sorts of issues can be tricky as I can not recreate the problem myself to properly experiment with it but I hope you will be patient with us and I can only assure you we will do our very best to make sure everyone can watch the videos without interruption.

If anyone would like to contact me with more specifics about this issue then please drop me an email at [email protected]

Kind regards

Hi All,

Again thanks for all your feedback and a big thanks to Jeff from Wistia for stepping in here to try and help.

We are planning some changes to our online courses layout that we think might help with some of the problems you are having here. We hope to have theses change in place by the end of the month.

Kind regards

Yes!!! What’s going on? I get into them and I start planning a practice session with one of these ideas, then half way through I get stopped in my tracks because I don’t know how to do the next step. I don’t know why it happens, but I won’t continue to pay if the lessons are not complete.

The support suggested using Google Chrome which I did but didn’t make any difference at all…I don’t think it’s my internet speed neither because I don’t get the same problem with other videos from other sites. IT support please help…

I use google chrome and I’ve tried internet explorer but still no good. I will have a go with safari and see how I get on. I wouldn’t give up though cos I love this site and I’ve learnt so much

Hi Michelle

I used to have this problem too, but I switched to Firefox on David Brice’s advice and have not had any problems since. Have a try, might work. x

I’ve tried safari and firefox and they were both worse than google chrome, couldn’t see any video images at all weren’t even freezing it was just a blank screen. Firefox even got me to upgrade my Adobe but still nothing. It’s really frustrating and I’m so sick of hearing the intro music.

Hi Michelle

Which tutorials are you having problems with? Some of the older ones do buffer a little but soon start to play normally. If you’re still having problems, send Paul Doffman a quick email, he appreciates all feed back for technical problems, I’m sure he will sort it out asap. x

I’ve just tried to watch the fish video and it froze after only a couple of seconds, I moved it on slightly and it started playing, but again after a few seconds it froze and then jumped to the next section. I tried watching the beach video earlier and it just kept freezing (didn’t even have “loading” in the corner just froze and wouldn’t move on. As I said in my email I have tried safari and firefox and couldn’t even get a picture until I downgraded adobe flash. Videos now play but still keep freezing and don’t come back on.

Hi Michelle

Just finished watching the gold fish tutorial, time is 1.56am 12/09, it played all the way through with no problems apart from an occasional ‘loading’ flash in the top left hand corner. I am viewing in Firefox. Hope this feed back is of some help to Jeff also. x

I’m having the same issue in my Firefox browser, however have just discovered that when in full screen mode, if I right click and change to SD instead of HD it loads well. A bit of a shame I can’t watch in HD since I have no issues anywhere else viewing in HD, but it stops the frustrating freezing for me. Hope this helps x

I was having the same issues, especially when trying to watch the videos in the evening. I noticed that it seemed to be related to the strength of my wifi signal so now if I have any problems I go and sit right next to the router and so far it has worked perfectly, including all of the goldfish tutorial!
