Rotating Cake Stands
Hi
Just wondering how much does the average cake weigh?
I saw the following cake stand
http://www.turntable360.com/black-heavy-duty-led-rotating-display-turntable.html
but it only holds up to 10kg. I think that would be sufficient for most cakes but thought I would ask opinions?

Hi lori698
There isn’t a precise answer to your question because it depends on the type of cake you’re baking eg fruit cake, madeira, sponge or pastry. The size of each cake, what type of filling and covering you are using and how many cakes you intend to stack will all increase the weight.
If you add up the weight of all your ingredients for each cake to include crumb coat, filling and sugar paste, cake cards, cake drums, any decorations like flowers/toppersand dowels this will give you an approximate weight. You’ll lose some weight during the baking process when some of the moisture will be lost but it won’t account for a great deal. As I’ve said, this is not a precise method, it’s just suffcient to give an idea.
I seem to remember 360 have bigger stands. I have the 10k stand and have only used it for the carousel cake.
