Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A

I have been asked by a local hotel to go to speak to them as they are often asked for cake decorators.  I obviously should go with some samples of cake… but what ? i also don’t really have much of a portfolio together yet ?

Comments please on what to take and how to approach this ?

I’d maybe buy some dummy cakes and make up some designs. Even to take pics so you have a variety maybe take an album with photos. I’d take cake samples for them to try as well.

I agree with the others.  I note that the hotel has asked you to come in and not the other way round.  Could it be be they already know the quality of your work?  You could always offer them a deal on their first order ☺
